Within The Boundaries of Love

Forty words:

Stay in hours of darkness
Until morning light
Help me through our baby's birth
And I will be alright.
Life's great happening to cherish
Be it girl or boy...
Soon we'll hold a gentle child
God's precious gift of joy

Wisdom From By gone Days

In midst of the present recessional times
maybe Shakespeare's famous lines
'neither a borrower or a lender be'
could have saved the world much misery!
But without those overdrafts and loans
for motorcars and top-grade homes...
and spending our money to extreme,
there would be no midsummer dream.
Shakespeare meant no ill
for he is our treasure still.

With thanks to Robert Palmer

Forty words:

Falling in love with love,
My heart was aglow.
'Addicted to Love'
In a world long ago
When nightingales sang
And wedding bells rang.
Music played soft and low.
Romance is forever true.
And I am 'addicted' to
Loving you.

Wishful Thinking

Humour Intended:

It's all so personal
and me-o-myish,
It's all so beautiful
and ultra-stylish.
The FT and Dow
are telling us now...
Go! buy those gems
that once were denied us.
So, ignore the word 'crunch'.
for we only live on

Winter Sundays

There was magic in Sundays of long ago.
Life was sweet and the pace was slow.
No motor fumes or poisonous spray
Or shopping sprees to mar the day.

The Sabbath was a Holy time...
From the village church, bells would chime.
And children, with fair and shiny tresses
looked just like princes and princesses.

Vases of flowers in their full bloom
Adorned the casement of every room,
And our dining-table was always set
With seasonal food, I remember yet.

Joyfully, to the park we would go,
Prancing through the crisp white snow;
Then home we'd run, fast as could be
To sit by the cosy fireside for tea.

At eventide every voice would sing
Hymns of praise to our Heavenly King.
Then we would sleep and dream till dawn
To wake afresh to greet a new dawn.

Winston Churchill

'We shall fight on the beaches
We shall fight on the landing grounds
We shall fight in the fields
And in the streets.
We shall fight in the hills
But we shall never surrender.'

Churchill's speeches were so well defined
Possessing a slight touch of rhythm and rhyme.
The most apt description clould be free verse,
A style of their own ~ iniquely diverse.
How could a wartime speech be poetical
When made up of words so widely political?
But Winston loved poetry, a great writer was he;
Nobel Prize for literature, nineteen fifty three.
At Harrow School, when only fifteen, he wrote
'The Influenza' ~ published and masterly.
And one day as his daughter's dog lay whining
He wrote a few lines, to stop her from crying...

'Poor Puggy Wug'
Oh what is the matter
with poor Puggy Wug?
Pet him and kiss him
and give him a hug;
run and fetch him a
suitable drug.
Wrap him up tenderly
all in a rug ~ that is the
way to cure Puggy Wug.

AH! But what a great Orator
And War Leader
Winston Churchill became.

Winter of Regret

I sigh and I fret
and I'll never forget
the last moment
I spent at your side.
I miss you my dear
life has been drear,
and my soul pines
for you yet...

Cold and dark ~
heavy the heart,
the heart that once
fell apart in the
ice and the snow
of long long ago,
'twas the winter
I will never forget.

Winter Fairytale

I once heard a baby boy crying
out in the mid-morning snow,
and anxious was I to comfort him
for my sad heart pitied him so.

He laid in the arms of his mother,
a princess from a day long ago,
and as I wandered away all alone
I could feel my teardrops of woe.

Returning again, before noonday
the sun had melted the snow...and
baby and mother were smiling sweetly
with their pretty blue eyes aglow.

I greeted the mother warmly,
she was kind as a mother could be!
Just one look made me understand
and I was filled with humility.

Happily we talked together;
she welcomed me home, just we three.
That gentle mother of a treasured child
had cast a magical spell over me.

Wings To Fly

Forty words:

Silken wings fluttering by

~~Irresistible butterfly~~

Enjoy my garden, can't you see

I'll protect you; trust in me.

Your presence is a child's delight

Nature rejoices in your Admiral flight.

With artistry of coloured sheen...

God designed a beauty queen.

Willow Cottage for Sale

Have you ever seen grandfather's cottage
Close to the timeless sea?
He has recently added a wing or two
And it's a 'picture' for all to see...
With every mod.con. it stands there,
Willow Cottage ~ at number three
And will be up for sale in a month or so,
Such a bargain; believe you me!

A beautiful cottage of classical white
By the side of an English oak tree
It has class, it has style and sweetness;
Hot property, you will surely agree.
A writer of fame once stayed there
And a Nobleman from history.
If you settle the deal you'll be happy:
'Willow Cottage' at number three.

Wild West Legend

Jane Cannary-Burke 1852 - 1903.

Wild West Jane of Missouri fame,
was known by more than one name:
Jane Cannary, Martha Jane and
believe it or not ~ Calamity Jane.
How did this name come to be?
Just take it from me
'twas said jokingly
by a Captain Egan from history.
And I quote his little refrain...

'I name you Calamity Jane
the heroine of the plain'.
This phrase he repeated
over again:
'I name you Calamity Jane
the heroine of the plain'

Love is painful

It's me who dreams of your smile
And finds in your presence that life is worth while
This love inside of me is true
Everything I do I think of you
I cherish you within my soul
Its you that makes me whole

Our hearts have always bonded
And like a spark of light love always responded
You’ll never fully understand how special you are
On the darkest nights you're my only star

It’s you I see every night in my dreams'
You made me understand what love really means
God sent you from above
The angel for whom I do love
You’re apart of me yet so many miles away
My heart’s aching that’s all I have to say.

A True Friend

I found a friend, who knew everything I felt.
He understood my wonders, and listened to my dreams.
He listened to how I felt about life and love,
And knew exactly what it all means.
I wasn't looking for him
but some how he came, and found me.

It's like you my fire, a burning light.
Thou I haven’t met you and we far apart.
Just the thought of you enhances me
with a warmth felt in my heart.

Chatting to you is like being in the sun after the rain...
You shower this feeling of happiness over me,
No matter what mood I may be in.
Even if it takes forever to see
What happiness really means to me
I know the friendship we share will always be
in perfect harmony between you and me.
